FAQs

  • The offerings vary depending on the presence of different soloists from the Osesp Season, and may include courses in musical instruments, singing, composition, conducting, and choral conducting.

  • The Masterclasses are mostly taught by guest artists from the Osesp Season. Previous participants have included names such as Augustin Hadelich (violin), Sheku Kanneh-Mason (cello), Emmanuel Pahud (flute), Stephen Hough (piano), Heinz Holliger (composition, chamber music, and oboe), Nathalie Stutzmann (contralto), as well as musicians from Osesp itself.

  • The classes are open to the general public. Anyone can register to participate as a performer or an observer, with the difference that registration as a performer undergoes a selection process.

  • Performers are active participants in the Masterclasses, playing an instrument, singing, or conducting for the guest instructor. Observers only watch the classes as an audience.

  • Those who register as observers are automatically approved to attend the Masterclass. The only exception is if the number of registrants exceeds the room's seating capacity. In this case, spots will be allocated based on the order of registration. In all cases, participants will receive a confirmation email.

For those who choose the performer option, registration does not guarantee active participation in the class. The registration form requests materials that must be submitted up to 10 days before the Masterclass. These materials will be reviewed by the artistic team of the Osesp Music Academy and/or the invited artists themselves. Candidates who demonstrate higher technical and musical proficiency will be selected — depending on the number of available spots for performers in the Masterclass. All registrants as performers will receive an email informing them whether or not they have been approved. Selected participants must confirm their attendance via email up to three days before the Masterclass. Those who are not selected will be welcome as observers.

  • The registration deadline for performers is up to 10 calendar days before the Masterclass. The registration deadline for observers is up to one business day before the event.

  • Each performer must bring their own instrument (unless otherwise specified) and sheet music. It is also recommended to bring an extra copy of the part for the instructor to follow during the performance.

  • To avoid delays and ensure the schedule is maintained, we ask that participants arrive at least 20 minutes before the start time of the Masterclass. The time for each class is specified in the registration form.

  • The Osesp Foundation only provides an accompanist pianist for conducting and singing Masterclasses. If the performer feels the need, whether an instrumentalist, singer, or conductor, they may bring their own pianist.

  • All performers receive a participation certificate with the number of hours of the activity.

  • All the Masterclasses take place at Sala São Paulo, in a location that will be communicated via email and on our website.

  • Each Masterclass lasts, on average, two hours.

  • Masterclasses with foreign soloists are usually conducted in English. Although there are no simultaneous translators present in the classes, the Osesp Music Academy team is always available to assist with anything needed.
